Founded in 1962, Spinneybeck was born as a small Canadian company, headquartered in a rural schoolhouse outside of Stouffville, Ontario. Spinneybeck introduced quality Italian leathers to North America, bringing full grain, aniline-dyed Italian leather to the design community. “Spinney,” the Old English word for woods, represents tannin, an ingredient derived from wood bark that is still used in leathermaking. “Beck,” the Viking word for brook or stream, is the water component of leathermaking. Taken together, this name has become synonymous with fine craftsmanship.
For half a century, Spinneybeck has been home to premium Italian leather, crafted in the tradition of American Modernism. No company in the field has had a greater commitment to its industry or its clients. Uniquely honest. Exquisitively modern. The rest, it seems, is history.
