Transforming four historic and long-neglected boat docks in 1995, the first location of Chelsea Piers opened, creating a 28-acre waterfront sports village along Manhattan’s Hudson River. Today, Chelsea Piers spans three locations including Manhattan, Brooklyn and Connecticut to offer distinct spaces, activities and communities in each area with a shared passion for fitness, sports and wellness.

To create a more seamless website experience and increase lead generation in support of their diverse and growing business, Chelsea Piers partnered with 50,000feet to redesign and develop their digital presence.

With three primary business units: Sports, Events and Fitness, each with a disparate website, Chelsea Piers needed to integrate each site into a single platform to create a more seamless experience and increase lead generation in support of their diverse and growing business. Idea

With an insights-led and audience-driven approach, 50,000feet developed an integrated and scalable design system that enables Chelsea Piers to meet and exceed the expectations of each of their three distinct businesses. We worked to streamline customer pathways and deliver fast page load times while implementing a visual design approach that infused brightness and boldness into the experience.

The relaunch of the Chelsea Piers website is vital to executing their customer experience strategy and leveraging accurate data in support of growing their core businesses. From supporting customer acquisition and retention strategies to improving customers’ digital experience, their refreshed website strengthens their brand positioning, business strategy and marketing goals and energizes the customer experience across channels.

Brand Identity

In collaboration with Chelsea Piers, 50,000feet revisited the brand’s visual identity system. The approach embraced what was familiar but then pushed the design language in ways to further enhance its digital presence. Areas of impact saw refinements to the logotype, typography, color palette and iconography.
